Staycations that don’t suck

When you think of a vacation, what do you think of? For many, the ideal vacation looks like camping, or sitting in the sun with a cool drink in hand and no voicemail or email! Unfortunately, it can also look like very expensive and stressful travel.

So why not a staycation? What's a staycation you ask? It's quite simply a vacation where you stay in your home area rather than traveling. And that's another thing! When you travel for vacation, how much of your time is spent getting to and from your destination, vs enjoying being at your destination.

Why would I want to stay in my home area for vacation rather than "getting away?" Well, gas prices for one. If sitting in the sun with a cold drink in hand is more your speed, than sitting out on your patio pavers, burgers on the grill in your outdoor kitchen, and fish jumping in your beautiful fish pond can be every bit as peaceful. If camping is your idea of a good time, consider the campground in your back yard.

Take advantage of the local site seeing / activities in your area that you are typically too busy to enjoy. Throw in family fun night, and staycations can be some of the best vacations you've ever had.

These things don't have to be super expensive, in fact with the money you save on travel, you can get started making your back yard you favorite vacation destination location!
